IMSS Mailbox - A New Digital Tool for Members of the Mexican Social Security Institute

On June 7 of this year, a decree was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation introducing amendments and additions to the Social Security Law and the Law of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers, focusing on digital tools.

As part of these reforms, the IMSS Mailbox has been implemented, allowing the Mexican Social Security Institute to electronically notify administrative actions, requirements, or resolutions related to social security matters. It is important to highlight that documents obtained through this electronic system carry the same legal validity as those signed manually, ensuring equal probative value.

Additionally, the IMSS Mailbox will enable members of the Institute to submit applications, requests, notices, and fulfill obligations or requirements established by authorities.

It is essential for obligated parties to register and keep their information updated. Failure to activate the mailbox or providing inaccurate data will result in notifications being issued in accordance with the Federal Tax Code through official notices.

Within the next 60 days, the Mexican Social Security Institute will publish the procedures and services available through the IMSS Mailbox, along with the general rules for its operation, in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
